Speak Like An Expert
'If I want students to remember something, they need to think about it. And then, after some time passes, they need to think about it again. And again. And again'- Dylan William
'Speak Like an Expert' is a regular session where we revisit key terminology from across our curriculum to ensure that children remember concepts over time. We think it is important that children get the opportunity to delve backwards to what they have been taught previously, so they can connect their existing knowledge with new ideas. Making links across topics gives children opportunities to recognise how interconnected our world is, but they can only make links if they can remember what they've previously been taught.
While we play games like 'snap' and 'pairs' in class to remind children of what they have learned, we also encourage more formal articulation of their knowledge in the form of speeches or describing definitions. You can use our resources at home to re-visit what has been taught.
